MANILA, Philippines - The owner of the luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) involved in a hit-and-run that left two persons dead over the weekend appeared before authorities to clear his name yesterday afternoon.
The owner, who wished to be identified only as Jun, said he lent his Hummer (BEU-200) to his colleague since December.
Lowell Gonzalgo, 26, and Felix Marvin Bose, 25, were thrown from their motorcycle when they were hit by the Hummer when its driver counterflowed along V. Luna Road in Barangay Pinyahan at around 5:40 a.m. on Sunday.
Surveillance footage showed the driver sped away after the accident, but left behind the vehicle’s license plate, which was detached due to the collision.
Jun said he lent the car to his colleague in a networking company so that he could “hit his sales goals.”
However, Jun added that his colleague lent his car to yet another person and only told him after the accident.
Senior Police Officer 4 Crisaldo Nemenzo of the District Traffic Enforcement Unit said they have yet to identify the driver but they are preparing a case against him.
