ILOILO CITY , Philippines  – Six persons – five senior high school students and a teacher – were injured after a hanging bridge collapsed in Tubungan, Iloilo on Saturday afternoon.

The victims were reportedly taking a group picture when the incident occurred at past 2 p.m. in Barangay Dagaay.

Town police chief Senior Inspector Roland Araño said one of the students suffered a neck injury after she was stuck between the ropes.

The student was initially taken to the Guimbal District Hospital in nearby Guimbal town. She was later transferred to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.

The five others fell into the water and suffered minor injuries. They were treated at the nearby health center.

Reports said the group – which included teacher Dienille James Guerero, 27, of Tubungan National High School – were attending a fiesta in Barangay Dagaay when they decided to take a group picture on the bridge.
