MANILA, Philippines - A fire broke out at a residential area in Quezon City Friday afternoon, leaving 10 families homeless.
The blaze started at the house of Cris Tusiap along Dollar street in Barangay North Fairview at around 1:19 p.m., reached third alarm and destroyed nine other houses before it was put out at around 2:03 p.m., said Senior Superintendent Manuel Manuel, city fire marshal.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Manuel said Fire Officer 3 Joseph Angelo Refuerso was hospitalized due to second-degree burns on his neck.
Crews on 31 firetrucks and two ambulances responded to the fire, which destroyed P50,000 worth of property, arson investigators said.
