LTFRB shuts down 3 ride-sharing firms

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) yesterday ordered three illegitimate ridesharing companies to cease operations or face legal sanctions.

Wunder Carpool, Angkas and the CitiMuber Passenger were warned to stop all bookings made through their respective mobile applications.

LTFRB member Aileen Lizada said the three are classified as Transport Network Companies (TNCs) that “have not been accredited” by the regulatory body.

A TNC is defined by the LTFRB as an organization that “provides pre-arranged transport services for compensation using an internet-based technology application or digital platform technology to connect passengers with drivers using their personal vehicles.”

She said the LTFRB will be forced to take “legal actions” against the three companies and their operators if they continue to operate.
