MANILA, Philippines – Seven more suspected drug personalities were gunned down in Bulacan in the past two days.
Ace Gonzales and an alias Jay, residents of Barangay Tambubong in San Rafael town; an alias Junior of Barangay Sta. Rita Bata in San Miguel; Restituto Ramos of Parulan, Plaridel; an alias America of Bagbagin, Pandi and a certain Abdul of Muzon, San Jose del Monte City drew their guns when they sensed they had sold shabu to anti-drug operatives, said Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director.
Caramat said sachets of shabu, guns and ammunition were recovered from the fatalities.
Suspected vigilantes shot dead Jeffrey Linayao, a resident of Barangay Abangan Sur in Marilao. The gunmen left a placard identifying the fatality as a drug pusher near his body.
In Ilocos Sur, village councilman Ruben Pajo, 52, was wounded in a gun attack by a suspected drug pusher in Vigan City on Monday.
Pajo was standing in front of his house in Barangay Purok-a-Bassit when he was shot.
Pajo was taken to the Gabriela Silang General Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses tagged a certain Rannie Paa in the attack.
Senior Police Officer 1 Marnel Galinato said Pajo is a known anti-drugs advocate in the village.
Paa earlier figured in a shooting incident over alleged double-cross with drug dealers. His wife Florybell,a drug surrenderee, was gunned down last year.
B’gay captains, teacher nabbed
Meanwhile, two more barangay captains were arrested after a raid on their houses reportedly yielded sachets of shabu, guns and ammunition.
Renato Bacolor Jr. was collared in Barangay Poblacion West in Alcala, Pangasinan on Monday.
Bacolor is a “high-value” drug suspect in the province who surrendered under Oplan Tokhang recently, but continued with his illegal activities, said Chief Inspector Ferdinand Lopez, town police chief.
Cirilo Trillana, 51, chairman of Barangay Mercado in Hagonoy, Bulacan, was arrested yesterday.
Public school teacher Loreto Demetillo of the Gingoog City Comprehensive National High School was nabbed along with Ricky Jamolin and Albert Olaco during a sting in Barangay San Juan on Saturday.
Seventeen others were nabbed in anti-drug operations in Barangay Mabolo in Naga City in Albay and Baguio City since Sunday. – Ric Sapnu, Raymund Catindig, Eva Visperas, Ben Serrano, Cet Dematera, Artemio Dumlao
