MANILA, Philippines - Six more policemen linked to the illegal drug trade in the Negros Island Region (NIR) were relieved on Thursday.
Police Officers 3 Gilbert Alunan, Tony Hechanova and Rey Villanueva, SPO1 Noel Capablanca and May Lumawag as well as PO2 Richard Daniela were mentioned in the affidavit of a member of the so-called Berya drug ring as receiving protection money, said Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, NIR police spokesperson.
Early this week, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional director Julius Navales and five of his men were relieved also for allegedly receiving payola from the drug ring.
