MANILA, Philippines – Nine persons, including four drug suspects, were gunned down in the past three days.
Aniceto Deluanan was killed when he allegedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to a policeman who posed as a buyer in Barangay San Jose in Iriga City, Albay at around 10:45 a.m. yesterday, said Superintendent Alex Pederio, city police chief.
Deluanan was declared dead on arrival at the Mediatrix Hospital.
A man known only as Hugar allegedly fired at police officers during a drug sting in Sitio Kataasan, Barangay Bagbaguin in Pandi, Bulacan also yesterday.
Police said Hugar was a known drug pusher in the town.
Senior Police Officer 2 Roque Amador and PO2 Noe Gemintisa were killed in an alleged shootout with operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Purok 8, Barangay Ising in Carmen, Davao del Norte at around 11:20 a.m. on Monday.
Amador and Gemintisa, who were assigned at the Carmen and Panabo police stations, respectively, were absent without official leave, according to their superiors.
Sachets of shabu, guns and marked money were allegedly recovered from the fatalities.
Slain in gun attacks
Meanwhile, police have yet to determine the motive for the killings of five persons in separate gun attacks on Tuesday.
Rolando Mejia, 59, chairman of Barangay Calaocan in San Nicolas, Pangasinan, was driving his motorcycle when an unidentified man on another motorcycle shot him.
Mejia was pronounced dead on arrival at the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug.
Ricardo Gallegos, 51, a former member of the Philippine Army, was shot by two men who approached him in front of his house in Barangay Banay-Banay in Cabuyao City, Laguna at around 7 a.m.
In Rizal, unidentified men shot dead vendor Modesto Mereno, 48, in Barangay San Jose in Rodriquez town.
Farmer Melchor Sagay-oc, 56, was walking on his way home when he was gunned down in Barangay Concepcion in Del Pilar, Ilocos Sur. The assailants also hacked the victim’s head.
Traffic enforcer Renato Dizon, 43, was gunned down in Barangay Agdao in San Carlos City in Pangasinan also by unidentified motorcycle-riding men.
2 hurt
In Cagayan, Jennifer Simon, 18, and her brother Jerome, 17, were critically wounded when motorcycle-riding men opened fire.
The siblings were on their way home after watching a basketball game in Barangay Mabnang when the attack occurred. ?
