Father, teen son hurt in blast in Polomolok
SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines — Two were injured in an explosion that rocked a farming village in Polomolok town in South Cotabato late Sunday.
Radio reports on Monday said the victims, Muksim Adam and his 15-year-old son, sustained shrapnel wounds in different parts of their bodies.
They were inside their residential yard in the outskirts of Polomolok when an improvised explosive device apparently brought in by a still unidentified man went off, wounding them both.
Witnesses confirmed seeing a man wearing a dark shirt and denim pants watching the house of the victims from a distance minutes before they heard a powerful blast.
Barangay officials said the family of Adam is locked in a land dispute involving another Moro family.
Responding police investigators said the improvised explosive device used in the attack was made of blasting powder packed with bent nails and rigged with a triggering device attached to a mobile phone.
