MANILA, Philippines - At least 30 families were left homeless when a fire struck a residential area in Parañaque City yesterday morning.
Two persons were injured in the fire that broke out in Barangay Moonwalk at around 9 a.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Arson probers said around 20 houses were destroyed by the fire.
Firefighters put out the blaze after more than an hour.
Damage to property was estimated at P100,000.
In Taguig, a fire broke out at the house of Boying Obregon in Barangay Western Bicutan on Sunday night.
Senior Superintendent Jenny Tecson, spokesperson for the Southern Police District, said at least 20 families lost their homes in the fire.
Tecson said the fire started at past 10 p.m. and lasted until 12:15 a.m. yesterday.
She said 15 fire trucks responded to put out the blaze.
No one was reported injured in the fire.
Police said a man was arrested after he was caught stealing at the height of the fire.
Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the twin fires.
