CAMP VICENTE LIM, Philippines – Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa has ordered an investigation into the killing of a student in Antipolo City, Rizal on Saturday.
Chief Superintendent Valfrie Tabian, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police director, told The STAR yesterday that Dela Rosa called him up to order a probe.
Tabian said local authorities and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Rizal were tasked to handle the investigation.
Yani Jebulan, 21, a third year Psychology student of the Our Lady of Fatima University in Antipolo, and his two companions were walking on their way home when motorcycle-riding men fired at him. He died at the scene.
The father of the victim, retired police officer Alfredo Jebulan, appealed to Dela Rosa to solve the killing of his son.
Tabian said probers are eyeing a grudge as the motive for the attack. He said they are enhancing the footage taken by a closed-circuit television camera at the scene to identify the perpetrators.
He said the case was not drug-related.
