MANILA, Philippines - An official of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is the new bishop of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan.
Pope Francis announced the appointment of Fr. Socrates Mesiona on Friday night, the CBCPNews reported yesterday.
Mesiona will replace Bishop Pedro Arigo who resigned after reaching the mandatory age of retirement of 75.
Mesiona is the executive secretary of the CBCP- Episcopal Commission on Mission and national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the Philippines.
