ZAMBOANGA CITY — A farmer has been missing and feared dead while 10 barangays were inundated after a flash flood triggered by incessant rain in Zamboanga del Sur, according to police Friday.

The missing victim was identified as Miran Ticol Apay, a resident of Barangay Upper Landing, Dumingag town, said Police Superintendent Michael Nicolas, spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9).

Nicolas said Apay attempted to cross the rampaging waters of Guitran River when he was swept and his body was not recovered since Wednesday.

Nicolas said the local police of Dumigag disclosed that at least eight barangays in the said town were flooded and destroyed the newly planted rice field.

Meanwhile, at least two barangays also got flooded Thursday in the town of Ramon Magsaysay after the Dipolog River swelled.
