MANILA, Philippines - A three-hour fire hit a densely populated area in Pasig City Wednesday, destroying property estimated at P2.5 million and rendering at least 70 families homeless.
Nobody was hurt in the fire.
Chief Inspector Roy Quisto, Pasig City fire marshal, said the fire started at a residential area of East Bank Road in Barangay Sta. Lucia at about 6 p.m.
Strong winds fanned the fire towards adjacent houses made of light materials.
At least 20 fire truck crews from Pasig City and nearby areas arrived and battled the fire until it was put out some three hours later.
Those affected by the fire have taken shelter at the covered court of Barangay Sta. Lucia while the city government takes care of their basic needs.
