Blast suspect slain in shootout

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A suspect in a grenade attack at a police station here was killed in a reported shootout with police on Wednesday night.

Kasim Yunos shot it out with police officers who responded to reports that he shot dead an 80-year-old woman identified as Naniyang Sali in Barangay Sangali at around 4:30 p.m., said Chief Inspector Chester Natividad, Station 3 commander.

Initial investigation showed Yunos shot Sali because he thought she was a police asset.

Police seized Yunos’ caliber .45 pistol.
