8 missing climbers found safe in Aurora

DINGALAN, Aurora (Philippines News Agency)  — Eight hikers who went missing Saturday were found safe, according to Aurora's Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).

The Rabas Uragon mountaineers were contacted and now safe and in the custody of Roger Villa, a local resident of Barangay Davildavilan, in this town.

The mountaineers were identified as Robert Bermudo, Fredner Madridano, Perfecto Beltran, Joseph Gino Basilla, Andrea Clarice Regne, Ralph Escarcha, Win Calleja at Jeremy Paul Villastiqui.

The four tour guides, namely Feliciano Martin, Jessel Martin, Diego Martin at Franklin Serna, were also safe.

The group tried to climb Mount Mingan in this town Saturday despite the anticipated landfall of Typhoon Karen (international name: Sarika) in the province on Sunday dawn.

As of this moment, the groups are trapped in Davildavilan due to overflowing of rivers in the said barangay.
