P10 M fake cigarettes seized

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – At least 350 boxes of fake cigarettes worth P10 million were seized during raids on warehouses in Cogon area in this city in the past two days.

The bulk of the seized items were imported from China and Taiwan, said Sonny Sarmiento, technical assistant at the office of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon.

Sarmiento said the raids were conducted amid reports on the proliferation of smuggled and fake products in Northern Mindanao.

He said they are still verifying the identities of the owners of the warehouses.
