Ding Cervantes - The Philippine Star

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – The police and military have set up at least 199 checkpoints in Central Luzon following President Duterte’s declaration of a state of national emergency on account of lawless violence. ??  ?

“These checkpoints are meant to intensify police interdiction operations and maximize police visibility,” said Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino, Central Luzon police director. ??

Aquino directed provincial, city and town police chiefs to supervise the checkpoints and the deployment of personnel in areas of public convergence and vital installations.

“The entire Central Luzon police is on full alert status. All leaves of police personnel are canceled,” Aquino said in a statement.
