11 more drug suspects slain

MANILA, Philippines - Eleven more drug suspects have been killed in separate incidents across the country.

Five were slain in Bulacan on Thursday, three of them in anti-drug operations.

Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director, identified the fatalities as Erik Tolentino, alias Pingas, a resident of Barangay San Jose in Hagonoy town; Francisco Romo, of Pabahay 2, Barangay Muzon, San Jose Del Monte City;  a certain Botchoy and Rey Tilimban, of Northville, Barangay Batia, Bocaue and Roger Torres, 63, alias Roger Bulag.

Caramat said Romo was shot dead by unidentified men in front of his house.

Torres was found dead along Tungkong Mangga- Sta. Maria Road in Barangay San Vicente, Sta. Maria town. His body bore a placard that read: “pusher ako, susunod na kayo (I’m a pusher, you are next).”

Also on Thursday, Rommel Flores, 44, was killed in an alleged shootout with police operatives during a raid  in Barangay Linmansangan in Binalonan, Pangasinan.

Flores was declared dead on arrival at the Urdaneta District Hospital.

Five sachets of suspected shabu, a caliber .38 revolver, a hand grenade and three bullets were recovered at the scene.

In Albay, police said Roel Pardiñas, 42, was killed when he shot it out with personnel of the Police Regional Special Operations Task Group, Police Public Safety Co., Camalig police, 97th Military Intelligence Co. and Regional Public Safety Battalion during a sting in Barangay Libod in Camalig town yesterday morning.

Pardiñas was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital.

Joel Detera, alias Pilay, was killed in a reported shootout with  anti-drug operatives during a sting in Sorsogon City.

Superintendent Dionesion Laceda, Sorsogon City police chief, said Detera drew his gun after sensing that he had sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover agent. 

Laceda said Detera was among the most wanted drug personalities in Sorsogon City and supplied shabu in the city and nearby towns.

In Cagayan, Bryan Jasper Calucag died in a gun attack by unidentified motorcycle-riding men in Barangay Balzain in Tuguegarao City on Thursday night. ?

Calucag’s companion Ronnie Domingo was  wounded and remains confined at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center.?

Police said the suspects were walking on their way home at around 6:20 p.m. when they were shot.

Igne-Rosete ring

In Apayao, a member of a syndicate involved in illegal drugs, robbery and contract killings died in an alleged shootout with police in Barangay Quirino in Luna town yesterday.

Begel Rosete reportedly fired at police officers serving five warrants for his arrest.

Chief Inspector Greg Guerrero, Ilocos Sur police spokesman, said Rosete was the third most wanted drug personality in Sinait town and a  member of the Igne-Rosete syndicate.

In Iligan City, barangay councilman Ronald Fuentes was shot dead by unidentified men on Thursday night.

Police said Fuentes surrendered under Oplan Tokhang recently.  

P6-M shabu seized

A passenger bound for Cebu City was arrested at the Iligan port on Thursday after a plastic bag containing around a kilo of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1 million was found in his luggage.

Jamil Baguan Bauto, a resident of Molundo, Lanao del Sur is being held at the police station for the filing of appropriate charges. –Ric Sapnu, Ramon Efren Lazaro, Cesar Ramirez, Raymund Catindig, Francis Elevado, Celso Amo, Lino de la Cruz
