Inday Sara denies resignation as Davao City mayor

Christine C. Cudis - Philstar.com

DAVAO CITY, Philippines - There is no truth on rumors circulating that Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio will resign as Davao's city mayor to take on any national post that will be given by his father President Rodrigo Duterte.

But she admitted being amused with the throw of comments of both her bashers and supporters in a post on social media site, Facebook.

“These were just rumors and there wasn’t any truth to it,” she said.

Just a day after her father was inaugurated, she informed the Davao media through her brother, Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte that she will be on leave from office until July 22.

"I had personal errands to run kaya ako nag-leave. Alam ko kasing mati-take yung time ko doing personal things, kaya nag-leave muna ako," she said.

Even if her leave ended Friday, Duterte-Carpio said she will start her work the day after even if it is a Saturday.

"Wala namang Mondays to Fridays duty yan, ‘pag ikaw ang mayor, 24/7 ka na on duty," she said.

On Monday, she and 12 Davao City councilors are attending the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Duterte.

"I expect that he will speak on where he is already on his 'three to six months' ultimatum on stopping criminality and drugs in the country," she said.
