Zamboanga Sibugay road accident injures 7

The driver of the Isuzu Elf had been speeding when he lost control, causing the crash. 

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - A multiple vehicle collision along the highway in Tungawan town, Zamboanga Sibugay on Thursday afternoon left seven people injured, police said Saturday. 

Police Superintendent Rogelio Alabata, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said the road collision happend about 3:15 p.m. along the national highway in Purok 3, Barangay Tigpalay.

Alabata said police investigation found that an Isuzu Elf light truck driven by Romel Neri Majado of Cagayan de Oro City was speeding when the steering malfunctioned and he lost control of the vehicle.

Alabata said the light truck that was traveling from Zamboanga City to Zamboanga Sibugay initially sideswiped an oncoming mini-truck before colliding with a Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. (RTMI) bus.

Alabata said Majado and a passenger on the other mini-truck identified as Llodjie Sarino were injured.

He said at five other passengers of the bus were also injured. He identified them as Niel Rajan, Marian Gay Fernandez, Creselier Estender, Joy Vecitacion Corbo and Perla de Asis.

The injured victims were brought to the Tungawan Municipal Health Center for first aid and subsequently transferred to the hospital in this city.
