Cops to get incentive for weight loss

Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

URDANETA CITY, Philippines – Cash incentives await police officers in this city who will top a weight loss contest under Operation Balik Alindog/Operation Bawas Taba program.

Superintendent Jeff Fanged, Urdaneta City police chief, said yesterday the program was launched to motivate police officers to be physically fit.

“They should have discipline to get on their feet, do the moves, exercise, visit the gym and do some muscle toning. To have the courage to say no, lesser yes to parties and invitations, resist tempting delicious foods and mouth-watering drinks and beverages,” Fanged said.

He said he plans to give P5,000 to the “biggest loser,” and P3,000 and P2,000 for the second and third placers, respectively, out of his personal fund.

The one-month contest is open to the 155-member Urdaneta police.

Fanged said the winner would be known on July 6.

He said he would continue the program if proven effective.
