Troops overrun terrorist camp in Lanao

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Government troops have overrun another camp of a terrorist group associated with the Jemaah Islamiyah in Butig, Lanao del Sur yesterday. 

Lt. Gen. Mayoralgo de la Cruz, commanding officer of the Western Mindanao Command, said Camp Darul Imam in Barangay Sandag was seized without resistance.

On Wednesday, Army troopers also recovered a training camp of the group led by the Maute brothers in Barangay Poctan. 

De la Cruz said they are terminating the operations against the terrorist group.

Four soldiers were killed and 14 others wounded in the military offensive since last week. Fifty-four militants also died in the encounters.
