Incoming DSWD chief on 4Ps: It's under study
MANILA, Philippines - Incoming Department of Social Welfare and Development secretary Judy Taguiwalo has yet to come up with a position on the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps.
In an interview over radio station dzRH, Taguiwalo refused to discuss her plans, saying she would first study the program.
“I have to study its positive and negative effects on the beneficiaries,” Taguiwalo said.
The National Democratic Front of the Philippines recommended Taguiwalo to president-elect Rodrigo Duterte, who said he would allot at least four Cabinet positions for the communists.
Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman had expressed concern over the fate of the 4Ps under the Duterte administration, noting that the Communist Party of the Philippines has not been supportive of the program.
Duterte said he supports the program and vowed to expand and improve its implementation.
The 4Ps provides cash subsidy of P1,400 monthly to each qualified household beneficiary.
