KASIBU, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – An Australian mining firm turned over a P10-million check to officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) here for the implementation of the K to 12 program.

The check was handed over by David Way of the OceanaGold Philippines Inc. to DepEd Region 2 director Estela Cariño.

Of the amount, P7 million will go to the Eastern Nueva Vizcaya National High School in Didipio town and P1.5 million for 15 other high schools in the province.

The remaining P1.5 million will be for public high schools in Quirino.

The fund will be used for the procurement of laboratory equipment and books, and training of teachers.

DepEd said there are at least 1.3 million incoming senior high school students this year and most of them will go to public high schools.
