MANILA, Philippines - House helpers in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) will get a salary increase.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board has approved increases of P300 and P500, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) announced yesterday.
Under the wage order, the minimum wage of domestic workers in chartered cities and first class municipalities will be P2,500 while those in other municipalities will receive a minimum pay of P1,800.
NWPC said the wage hike applies to all domestic workers whether on a live-in or live-out arrangement.
Service providers, family drivers and those under foster family arrangement or performing occasional work are not covered by the wage hike.
NWPC said house helpers in Central Visayas might also receive a pay increase.
The council said the regional wage board has conducted a forum with stakeholders on the planned wage increase.
Meanwhile, the NWPC said the implementing rules and regulations on the wage increase for house helpers in Eastern Visayas have been issued.
Under a wage order issued recently, the minimum salary of domestic helpers in chartered cities in the region was set at P2,500 and P2,000 in other municipalities.
