Danny B. Dangcalan - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A local court has ordered a manual recount of votes cast in the mayoral election in San Enrique, Negros Occidental.

Bago City Regional Trial Court Judge Frances Guanzon on Tuesday ordered the election officer and municipal treasurer of San Enrique to turn over the ballot boxes, election paraphernalia and election documents to the court today.

The ruling was in response to an electoral protest filed by Vice Mayor Abner Jardinico against Mayor Mario Magno.

Magno garnered 7,906 votes against Jardinico’s 4,885.

San Enrique has a total of 16,417 registered voters,  27 clustered precincts and nine voting centers.
