Village chief gunned down

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Two motorcycle-riding men shot dead a village chief in Laurel, Batangas on Saturday afternoon.

Nejemias Ariola, 62, of Barangay Leviste, was driving a motorcycle when the assailants waylaid him at around 2:45 p.m. He died at the scene from several gunshot wounds in the body.

Police said the assailants could have been tailing the victim, who was last seen leaving  a grocery store at the town proper.

Probers said the killing could be job-related.
