Erap wins Manila mayoral race anew
MANILA, Philippines – Former president and incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada on Tuesday won the mayoral race in Manila.
In a close fight with his rival, former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Estrada was elected for his second term with 283,140 votes against Lim who garnered 280,464.
Estrada defeated four other candidates Amado Bagatsing, Ofring Abad, Val Reloj and Dodos Dela Cruz.
The incumbent mayor has also beaten Lim in the May 2013 local elections.
Meanwhile, Estrada’s running mate Honey Lacuna was also proclaimed as the duly elected Manila Vice Mayor with 268,969 votes. Her closest rivals were Ali Atienza with 221,037 and Benjamin Asilo with 137,388 votes. —Rosette Adel
