113 sacks of bomb chemical seized

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines– Police seized tons of chemical and materials used for making bombs during a raid in Barangay Calanay in Aroroy, Masbate on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Inspector Arthur Gomez, Regional Special Operations Task Group-Masbate spokesman, said 113 sacks of ammonium nitrate, blasting caps, time fuse and detonating cords were found stored in a warehouse owned by Alfredo Bangiban, alias Potong, at 2:45 p.m.

A .45-caliber pistol was also recovered from Bangiban.

Gomez said soldiers belonging to the 9th Infantry Battalion and Aroroy police officers served the search warrant issued by Judge Alben Rabe of Regional Trial Court Branch 15 in Tabaco City.

Bangiban is facing charges for illegal possession of explosives and firearms.
