‘Earthquake swarm’ rocks Quezon

MANILA, Philippines – A series of mild tremors or an “earthquake swarm” hit  Quezon yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs recorded at least 14 mild to moderate earthquakes starting at midnight.

The strongest was a magnitude 5.2 quake located at 10 kilometers southeast of Lopez town. It was felt at Intensity 5 in Guinayangan town and Intensity 4 in Lopez, Pitogo and Gumaca.

A magnitude 5 quake struck at 6:41 a.m. with the epicenter located at 14 kilometers southwest of Buenavista town. It was felt at Intensity 5 in Buenavista, General Luna and Mulanay and  Intensity 4 in Guinayangan, Catanauan, Gumaca and Pitogo.
