South Korean nabbed for drugs in GenSan
GEN. SANTOS CITY, Philippines - Agents on Thursday arrested a South Korean for possession of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) while inside a hotel here.
Lyndon Aspacio, director for Region 12 of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said the suspect, Hyun Seong Hong, yielded peacefully when PDEA operatives barged into his rented hotel room where they found P75,000 worth of shabu.
The PDEA team who arrested Hong also recovered from him drug sniffing paraphernalia.
Aspacio said the suspect, who is a citizen of the United States of America, is married to a Filipina in Gen. Santos City who has a local restaurant business.
“His address abroad is 2710 Park Way Irvine, California,” Aspacio said.
The PDEA-12 learned of the foreigner’s presence in the hotel from confidential informants privy to his addiction to shabu.
Aspacio said they will immediately charge the suspect with violation of the Philippine Dangerous Drugs Act.
Hong is now detained at a PDEA detention facility, awaiting prosecution.
