SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines — Spouses were killed Monday when their motorcycle collided head-on with a tricycle in Barangay San Isidro in South Cotabato’s hinterland Tampakan town.

Edgar Uwayan, 50, and wife Elsa, 49, died from severe injuries sustained in the accident.

The victims were riding a motorcycle together en route to the town proper of Tampakan when they hit a tricycle coming from the opposite end of a farm-to-market road.

Edgar was a security guard in a private establishment in the municipality while Elsa worked as radio operator in their local government unit.

Two injured passengers of the tricycle, high school student Joshua Mazo and Lerra Paclibar, an employee of a community radio outfit in the same town, were rushed to a hospital for medication.
