Groom lands in South Cotabato jail right after wedding

John Unson - Philstar.com

SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines — A newly-wed man on Monday landed in jail right after emerging from a worship site where he exchanged marital vows with his bride.

Policemen served Rodel Estoque a warrant for his arrest immediately after the wedding rite in a Catholic church in Santo Niño town northwest of South Cotabato.

Estoque is wanted for frustrated murder filed against him several years ago in a court in another South Cotabato town.

Estoque and her spouse immediately cancelled their wedding reception, to be held somewhere in the Santo Nino town proper, after he was brought by policemen to a detention facility.

The Santo Nino municipal police had told relatives of Estoque to find a lawyer who can help defend him in court.
