CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan, Philippines – Two unidentified armed men were shot dead after they reportedly tried to enter the house of a police officer in Norzagaray, Bulacan on Saturday morning.
Police Officer 3 Jonathan de Belen of the municipal police station said he heard his dog barking, prompting him to get out and check.
De Belen said he saw two men entering the compound of his home in Barangay Poblacion.
The officer confronted the intruders, who reportedly pulled out their firearms and shot at him, triggering a shootout.
Probers seized from the slain suspects two pistols, several plastic sachets said to contain shabu and a wallet containing a community tax certificate under the name of a certain Joel Garcia.
Senior Superintendent Ferdinand Divina, provincial police director, said De Belen has been receiving death threats after the municipal police launched anti-drug operations.
Probers said De Belen had also received death threats from a former New People’s Army rebel.
The bodies of the slain gunmen were brought to the Santos Funeral Parlor in Sitio Mataas na Kahoy, Barangay Tigbe.
