Magnitude 5.2 tremor strikes Surigao del Norte

MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook the province of Surigao del Norte early Wednesday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Based on Phivolcs' advisory issued at 9:20 a.m., the quake occurred at 4:36 a.m. with epicenter located 35 kilometers north east of Burgos, Surigao del Norte.
The tremor with depth of 12 kilometers was felt at various intensities in areas within Surigao del Norte province. It was experienced at Intensity 3 in Burgos, Intensity 2 in Surigao City and Intensity 1 in Mainit.
Prior to the magnitude 5.2 quake in Burgos, Surigao del Norte, the area also experienced a 4.2 magnitude earthquake at 4:31 a.m. This tremor was felt at Intensity 2 in Surigao City.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs recorded a total of six earthquakes including the two mentioned, on Wednesday. These are in Hernani, Eastern Samar; Claveria, Cagayan; Tarragona, Davao Oriental; and Burgos, Surigao del Norte.
All of which are tectonic in origin.
Phivolcs did not report any aftershock of damages from the six quakes.
