4 dead in Samar road mishap

MANILA, Philippines – Four people died when a speeding vehicle hit two tricycles along the highway in Balangiga, Eastern Samar on Saturday, police said yesterday.

Senior Inspector Mark Nalda, spokesman for the Eastern Visayas police, said the incident occurred in Barangay San Miguel around 1:30 p.m.

Nalda said a Toyota Avanza hit the two tricycles on the opposite lane when its driver, Jelson Quebec, lost control of the wheel.

He said the driver and three passengers of one of the tricycles died while being treated at the Alvino Duran Hospital. The occupants of the other tricycle were brought to the same hospital for treatment of their injuries.
