Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – The military has recovered two unexploded bombs near an Abu Sayyaf camp it recently overran in the mountains of Patikul, Sulu, an official said yesterday.

Brig. Gen. Alan Arrojado, commander of Joint Task Group Sulu, said members of the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion led by Lt. Col. Eugene Boquio were conducting clearing operations in the vicinity of Barangay Liang when they discovered two 105mm Howitzers around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Arrojado said members of their explosive ordnance disposal unit had safely disposed the bombs.

He said the military offensive against the Abu Sayyaf militants left at least five bandits killed. Five high-powered guns were also seized.
