SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines – The police finally caught on Tuesday the elusive former municipal assessor of Banga town wanted for falsifying documents while still in government service.
The suspect, Nerissa Rubino, voluntarily turned herself in when policemen showed her a warrant for her arrest, issued by Judge Roberto Ayco of the Regional Trial Court Branch 26 in Surallah town, also in South Cotabato.
Rubino was cornered by policemen in a house in a secluded area in Banga after several months of surveillance.
PO2 Rodson Ramos, community relations officer of the Banga municipal police, said Rubino is facing graft cases in a local court.
Ramos emphasized, however, Rubino could post a bail bond since the cases filed against her have corresponding bail privileges.
