ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - A jealous husband lobbed a grenade, killing himself and his companion, while four minors were injured Friday in a west coast village in this city, according to the police.

Chief Inspector Joel Tuttuh, spokesperson of the Zamboanga City Police Office, identified the fatalities as Danilo Ocampo and Boyo Mohammad, a boat operator.

The injured minors were identified as Romelyn Ramos, 12; Jomarie Ramos, 10; James Ramos, 9 and Roger Ramos, 7.

Based on the report, Ocampo lobbed the grenade after removing its safety pin about 10:49 a.m. at Sitio Agrarian, Barangay Patalon.

Prior to the explosion, Ocampo reportedly hired the services of Mohammad and forcibly took his wife to Patalon from the border town of Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte.

According to the police, Ocampo and his wife engaged in a heated argument over jealousy prompting the former to detonate the grenade.

Ocampo’s wife managed to escape the blast unhurt but the four minors nearby were hit. They were brought to the hospital for treatment.
