P15-M drugs seized in Cagayan raid
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – At least P15 million worth of illegal drugs and chemicals were seized in a raid on a suspected shabu laboratory in Sta. Ana, Cagayan on Wednesday.
The regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the raid also resulted in the arrest of six persons, including two Taiwanese, said to be operating the laboratory.
PDEA regional director Derrick Carreon said a joint team composed of the police and anti-narcotics agents raided a beach house on Elmar street in Barangay Samuk-Samok based on a warrant issued by Quezon City Judge Fernando Sagun.
Carreon said the house was owned by a certain Michael Lee, who was not around during the raid.
The raiding team recovered 15 sacks of assorted chemicals from Ke Chyi Long, 36, and Chay Jong Yi, 31, who were arrested along with Sanny Cangas, 28; Mario Umengan, 51; Alberto Dican, 46, and Dennis Albino, 41.
Last year, police and PDEA agents raided a similar drug laboratory in Lasam town, which resulted in the arrest of a former mayor and a Chinese businessman.
