Central Luzon cops’ firearms sealed
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – Muzzles of service firearms in the Police Regional Office 3 were sealed on Monday to prevent indiscriminate firing during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve revelries.
Chief Superintendent Eduardo Garado, deputy regional director for administration, said at least 11,000 firearms were sealed with tape.
”We are expecting our police force in Central Luzon to set an example in observing the law,” Garado said.
He said those who use their firearms outside the call of duty face charges of grave misconduct and illegal discharge of firearm.
He said the sealing of firearms is in support of the Department of Health’s APIR, or Aksyon: Paputok Injury Reduction program.
Garado directed all provincial police officials to coordinate with barangay officials to establish common firecracker zones in their respective areas.
