Davao del Sur politician killed in ambush

MANILA, Philippines - A 72-year-old businessman, who is running for municipal councilor in Davao del Sur in next year’s elections, was killed in an ambush by still unidentified men on Wednesday night.

Domingo Cruz Isip, who is seeking a seat in the municipal council of Bansalan under the Liberal Party, died from two gunshot wounds in the body.

Investigation showed the victim was in his vehicle, a Nissan Patrol, when he was killed at about 10:45 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion Uno in Bansalan.

The victim amd his driver came from a cockpit arena located on R. Delos Cientos street, Poblacion Uno when they were attacked.

Responding police officers recovered bullet shells for a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
