ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - Police forces arrested a couple suspected to be big time drug traffickers and seized around P200,000 worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation Tuesday night in a village in Isabela City, Basilan.
Police Superintendent Jerome Afuyog Jr., chief of Isabela City Police, identified the suspects as Reymando Soriano alias “Bornok” and his live-in partner Marivic Martinez.
Afuyog said Soriano’s first wife, who was not around during the operation, managed to elude arrest.
The raiding team seized a big pack and five medium-sized sachets of suspected shabu with a market value of P200,000, cash worth P4,180 and other drug paraphernalia.
Isabela City Councilor Abner Rodriguez, chairman of the committee on peace and order and public safety, commended the police with a council resolution and police advisory council resolution for the accomplishments of the local police in the war against illegal drugs.
Rodriguez also recommended to award with “Medalya ng Papuri” or the Philippine National Police Commendation Medal several local police officers for the successful anti-drug operation.
