Chinese trader gunned down

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Unidentified motorcycle-riding men shot dead a Chinese businessman at the downtown area here on Friday.

Philip Jacinto Lim, 53, died as he was being rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center. He was the owner of Unicon Enterprises, which is engaged in the sale of engines, equipment and hardware supply.

Lim was on a motorcycle on his way to his shop on Gov. Wood street when he was shot at the junction of Veterans Avenue and Campaner street at around 7:30 a.m., according to Chief Inspector Joel Tuttuh, spokesman for the city police.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
