ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A suspected Abu Sayyaf bandit was arrested by a combined team of police officers and soldiers in Jolo, Sulu on Friday.
Saddam Jailani was collared at Jolo pier by elements of the Joint Task Group Sulu (JTGS) composed of troopers of the 2nd Marine Brigade, the Army’s 35th Infantry Battalion, the Special Action Force and the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
JTGS chief Brig. Gen. Alan Arrojado said Jailani was identified as one of the followers of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Alhabshy Misaya, tagged in the kidnapping of two Malaysians and a Korean.
Jailani’s arrest was based on a warrant issued by Cebu Judge Alexander Acosta.
The suspect was placed under the custody of the CIDG.
