MANILA, Philippines - The Taguig City Police on Tuesday started implementing measures to ensure a safe and orderly Christmas season in the city.
Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano earlier directed the Taguig police to lay out plans that will prepare the city for the Christmas season, including the security of local residents, students and people working in the city.
Taguig City Police chief Arthur Felix Asis said the police plan will include the security of shopping areas in Taguig including the Bonifacio Global City where offices, shops and hotels are located.
Cayetano also ordered the police to heighten the security at the city's business districts to make sure workers including those in the business process outsourcing companies are secured even during at night.
“Dito po sa atin may pinakamahabang pagdiriwang ng Pasko kaya’t minabuti naming ngayon pa lamang ay ilatag na ang planong panseguridad ng lungsod. Magkatuwang po ang lokal na pamahalaan at ang pulisya sa adhikaing gawing ligtas at masaya ang panahon ng kapaskuhan dito sa Taguig," Cayetano said.
Asis said police assistance desks would be in place at the city’s shopping malls and other commercial establishments.
Asis added that police visibility operations would also be increased in public places as a crime deterrent measure.
In addition, the Taguig Police also met with officials of banks, money remittances and money changing shops, pawnshops and other financial institutions to discuss ways on how to prevent being victims of crime heists.
Asis asked the city residents to call the police hotline (02) 642-3582 and the PNP Patrol 117 for police assistance.
The Taguig police also encouraged people to use “I-Text Mo kay Chief” mobile number 0929-8072893 for complaints and other police-related assistance.
