Man nabbed for toddler’s slay
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A man was arrested for allegedly killing a two-year-old child in a village in this city on Wednesday, police reported yesterday.
Albert Legaspi, 38, reportedly armed with a bolo, barged into the victim’s house in Barangay Vitali, city police station 1 chief Inspector Edgardo Domingo said.
The victim’s grandmother, Pilar Midel, told investigators she ran out of the house to call for help, leaving her two granddaughters behind.
When she returned along with the neighbors, one of the children was already dead from a hack wound in the neck.
Responding police officers arrested the suspect, who was standing nearby.
A relative of the victim told police she heard the suspect saying he wanted to kill the old woman to know how tough her flesh is.
