2 convicted for drug trafficking

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Two men have been convicted for drug trafficking in Baguio City and Benguet, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Friday.

Rico Galao-ey of La Trinidad, Benguet was sentenced to a maximum of 16 years in prison by Judge Danilo Camacho, PDEA Cordillera Director Juvenal Azurin said.

?In a decision promulgated on Nov. 6, Camacho ordered Galao-ey to pay P300,000 in fines.

Galao-ey was arrested in 2012 after he sold two plastic sachets containing shabu to an undercover agent in Barangay Cruz.

Meanwhile, Baguio Judge Antonio Reyes sentenced Edmar Buscagan to a maximum of 20 years in prison for the recovery of five plastic sachets containing shabu at his lair at Camp Sioco in 2012.

Aside from imprisonment, Buscagan was ordered to pay fines amounting to P400,000 for drug possession and P10,000 for drug paraphernalia.
