Jennifer P. Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Thirty-one students were hospitalized after eating cassava cake bought from the school canteen on Tuesday.

The students of Suclaran National High School in Barangay San Lorenzo, who complained of stomach pain and headache, were brought to the Guimaras Provincial Hospital in Jordan town, said Senior Inspector Ethan Estaya, San Lorenzo police chief.

Estaya said two students remained confined in the hospital yesterday.

He said samples of the cassava cake were brought to a hospital for testing.

Canteen attendant Lopis Dizon said they bought the cassava from their regular supplier.
