CALASIAO, Pangasinan, Philippines – A businessman was gunned down by a motorcycle-riding man at a cockpit here on Sunday.

Adolfo Fernandez Jr., 60, was driving a Toyota Fortuner out of the cockpit’s parking area in Barangay San Miguel when the assailant shot him several times.

Although wounded, Fernandez managed to continue driving until he reached the end of the highway.

He got out of his vehicle to seek help, but the assailant followed and shot him again.

The victim died while being treated at the Dagupan Doctors Memorial Hospital in Dagupan City.

Investigators recovered bullet shells for a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Police found the assailant’s motorcycle abandoned near a gasoline station along MacArthur Highway.

Fernandez, son and namesake of a former member of the provincial board, owned several business establishments, including schools and hotels in Dagupan City.
